Varsity Coaches:
Brandon Buck is in his 3rd year as head coach for the Mountain Pointe Pride Varsity Baseball Team. During his first 2 years, Coach Buck has compiled a 43-20 overall record, 20-4 in Region play, has won back-back Central Region Championships (2006/2007), won back-back Aztec Preseason Tournament Championships (2006/2007), has been back-back state tournament qualifiers (2006/2007), and has been named back-back Central Region Coach of the year (2006/2007).
Also during this time the Pride have set numerous school and state records, including single season marks for HR’s, Doubles (97, state record), Hits, RBI’s, Runs, Batting Average, Putouts, and Defensive Fielding %. In conjunction with these records, Coach Buck has helped over 10 players go on to play at the collegiate level with 4 going to the Div
ision I level. During this brief tenure, the Pride has produced 3 All-Americans, back-back Central Region Players of the Year, 2 First Team All-State Selections, 1 Second Team All-State Selection, 1 Super 50 All-Star Selection, 2 Arizona All Star Selections, 1 Academic All-State Selection, and 9 First Team All-Region players.
On top of the athletic achievements Coach Buck, his staff, and his amazing booster families has been able to take on many Community Service Activities. These services include adopting families for the Winter Holidays, donating numerous shoes for The Homeless Shoe Drive done by, The Bar, School of Athletic Performance, and helping with, The Race for The Heart 5K.
Before moving to Arizona, Coach Buck attended Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana where he caught for the Boilermakers Baseball Team from 1996-2000. While a member of the Purdue Baseball Team, Coach Buck was a 3 time Academic All-Big Ten Selection and a 2001 Scholar All-American. In May, 2001 Coach Buck graduated from Purdue University with a BA in Secondary Education and moved to Phoenix taking his first teaching and coaching position at Mountain Pointe HS. Currently Coach Buck teaches AP Untied States History and American Studies; and is also the Head JV Football Coach.
Coach Buck is supported by his beautiful wife of 1 ½ years, Kerry Buck (a 7th grade teacher at Altadena Middle School), his soon to be born child (early Sept), his Father Donnie, (who recently moved to AZ), his mother MaryAnn (H.S. Secretary in Indiana), his older brother Jeremy (Musician living in LA), brother Donnie (Dr. living in Chicago), sister Trisha (Beautician living in Indiana), and his mother-n-law Karen (former teacher/coach in Tempe Union HS District)

Bill Baker has coached at Mountain Pointe since the day the school opened. He helped coach a Mick
ey Mantle team in 1991 with players from the area that would attend the school when it opened in 1992. That team made it to the Western Regionals but unfortunately was eliminated. For two years before that Bill helped coach baseball at

Kevin Dryanski is entering his second year as the Varsity Pitching Coach. Kevin brings a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience to our programs. His baseball career began at Mountain Pointe in 1998 where he was a three-year letterman. As team captain his senior year he was selected to the All-Region and All-City teams as well as being a participant in the 5A Senior All-Star game. Kevin's collegiate baseball career started at

Junior Varsity Coaches:
Phil Abbadessa is the Head JV baseball coach and is in his 28th year of coaching both baseball and football at MPHS.
Abbadessa lettered in football and baseball at McClintock High School. As a first baseman in baseball, he is a co-holder of the state record for fielding percentage (1.000). During his senior year, he had 145 attempts defensively without an error. He then played defensive back at Mesa Community College, where he was captain of the special teams. Abbadessa then transferred to California Lutheran University, where he played in the secondary. He received a Master's degree from ASU in Secondary Education/Exercise Science.

During the 2002-2003 school year, he received the "Teacher" Governing Board Award for Excellence. In 1998, he received the Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award from the Arizona Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
In 1994, he received the Tempe Diablos' Teacher of the Year Award for MPHS. In 1992, his research study on baseball pitchers was presented to the Association for Behavior Analysis International Convention.
Abbadessa is the Department Chairperson for Physical Education, Health Education and Driver Education. Phil is the varsity football coach. He's also the junior varsity baseball coach.
His wife, Ellen, is a teacher in the Kyrene School District. They have two children, Ellie Ann and Antonio James.

Paul Mather graduated form the University of Idaho in 1987 with a degree in Secondary Education. He moved to Arizona in 1997 and became the Assistant Varsity Baseball coach at Mountain Pointe from 1997 through the 2005 season. This is coach Mather’s third season as head Freshman baseball coach.

Sergio Holguin was raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico and has since graduated with an Education degree in History and Geography from Arizona State University. He teaches U.S. and World History at MPHS. He coached JV baseball at MdNHS last year and is currently an assistant for the MPHS Freshman team. He enjoys keeping fit, Chicago Cubs baseball, chicken enchiladas, and watching Jeopardy. He has come to the dramatic realization that his lifelong goal of becoming a professional wrestler will probably never come to fruition, yet he is extremely grateful to join the Mountain Pointe baseball family instead.

Joe Mather graduated from Mountain Pointe in 2001. While in high school he lettered in basketball and baseball. Additionally, Joe was a Scholar Athlete all four years. In 2001 Joe was the Central Region baseball player of the year as well as being a high school All-American. Joe was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team in 2001. He was selected in the third round and was the one hundred fourth overall pick that year. Currently Joe is still in the Cardinals organization, unmarried, and available.
Max Pincus was part of Mountain Pointe baseball for four years and a member of the varsity team for two, graduating in May of 2007. Max is currently attending
